What did you think? Could you hear a dramatic difference or was it subtle? There's a video on here with a guy who changed out the pots, caps, wiring on a Wolfgang standard and the sound is like night and day. I honestly don't believe it's an accurate comparison i think he either moved the mic, rolled the tone way off on the before, or something because i don't think it's going to change the tone that dramatically. But i always like doing upgrades like this and making a cheaper guitar try to sound better. I'm just not sure it's worth the cost unless you can do the work yourself.

The one question we all have is how does it feel in your hands,does it feel like a real Gibson neck, kind of a subjective question, but I know that my chibsons feel very close to the real deal,way more so then any other budget brands I've tried or own now, my chibson cherry burst standard,beat out 2 IYV LPs and 3 fireflys, and my chibson Angus Young SG,beat out a silvertone, Grote, firefly& IYV, just better in capturing the things we hope to find,when we buy a budget guitar, I'm not in favor of the stolen logo on the headstock,but at the same time, nothing illegal about owning it or showing it off, the Chinese knock offs allow you to experience, what your getting into when you finally buy that Gibson,why wait or continue buying sub par budget guitars, get a chibson, the odds of getting a good one, have went up tremendously.

Unless pots becoming scratchy and noisy I don't see any point to change them. Only reason would be if you are kind of player messing with volume while playing.

I tried the gfs and other copies and they definitely don’t compare to the quality of Sperzel. The copies became stuck and some fell apart while unscrewing the locks. Sperzel is all I use now and they have a lot of cool options. Made in USA. Peace

The chinese gibson's may sound the same to an untrained ear. what they dont have nowhere is near the amount of sustain a real gibson , pick up has. Buy the cheap wood, put some good hardware on it and tell Gibson to shove their pricing where the sun doesn't shine.

All Gibsons after the late 60’s are copies too. All the new company really got was the name , some machines, parts and some craftsman. Today, Gibson makes only copies.. What I wrote has nothing to do with chibsons being better. I’m sure that The American copy Gibsons are made much better.

Exactly what I have been saying for years, first get a decent quality Chibson, the main differences between a real Gibson and a Chibson is the electronics and some of the hardware, the body not so much, they are very much the same in quality, the real Gibson percentage wise is 10% at most better, I myself own a named make copy (before the Chibson arrived) which I will not reveal, as I understand Gibson brought out a law suit against them and took them to court to try and stop their manufacture as the quality was as good as the real deal but without a Gibson Logo, and cost a lot less money, but not as cheap as your Chibson unaltered.

Just curious which website did you buy it from? I've heard it can be hit-and-miss with Chibson. Thanks for any input.

If you look closely they like to put a veneer over the back aswell to hide the amount of pieces they use for the bodies

I can definitely tell that some of those chibsons are getting better at replicating. The placement of the knobs and everything

I have the 1992 Gibson Les Paul Classic Plus and when they 1st made them, it was basically the reissue of the 1960s les paul and were also made to be better than the Les Paul Standard. At that time it was released as a tier above the Standard. Things have definitely changed with them, that is why the earliest ones are highly regarded and sought after!!

Mmm - don't like the massive drop in volume when you split the coils. But otherwise it sounds nice.

Is the copy good enough to play out and not worry as much about theft or damage. Cause even though mine's ONLY a studio I did work to it to make it right for me.

What size do you use are those 10 ns it sounds way better than mine I got to change mine send what pick ups they are it helps a lot I already changed the tunners cause it wouldn't stay in tune hopefully I won't have to change the bridge I will change the pots and nut it sucks I'm just pissed off for having to change everything I just bought it p r s is hyped up to much live and learn don't buy on line go play one first so you know what your getting don't get ripped off like me

Clean neck mini humbucker and clean bridge screamin' demon. Both sounded like guitars. Distortion makes all pickups sound the same, no matter the cost and design.

I bought a bunch of Dillion guitars in the early 2000s. The one I regret selling the most is the blue quilt PRS copy that had the actual PRS bird inlays. PRS threatened to sue, so Dillion changed to a military style bird. I've had about 4 of the PRS style guitars and still have 2 of the LP style. A green quilt DLP-650 and a white DL-625. I also have their Fender strat copy in a light blue. I've had this guitar for damn near 20 years, and just last week, discovered that the bridge pickup isn't a common humbucker. It is two individual single coils that can each be raised and lowered to different heights and you can tweak the sound you get from the "humbucker". I say I just found that out a week ago because I hardly played the guitar since I bought it. I have so many other guitars that I tend to play more.

Gotta be honest, the tone is still far off from a legit LP. Especially the clean part at the beginning. It sounds stale and not creamy and lush like it should. Were the Slash pickups also knockoffs?

So you gave 1200$ for Chibson....and least expensive real Gibson is sounding better than this replica for the same amount of money. And real Gibson don't loose value over time but this will always be cheap Chibson, upgrades included or not. For just a fragment of higher price you could have pimped real Gibson....
